Another deathly hot noon game for Cameron Road this week and another red hot performance as they defeated Cirrus Logic 5-3 on the molten plains of Onion Creek. A typical mid-summer 1 sub team showed up today, a far cry from the 7 subs on opening day. But the 12 Honey Badgers were focused on…
Once upon a time…. The brave and mighty Honey Badgers were called upon to smote down the evil Dragons who had taken over the Onion Creek Soccer Lands. Usually a docile, fun-loving but hard-drinking bunch, the Honey Badgers received a scroll from the ancient Wizzard “Billah” to warn them of the impending doom.
In a battle for the 4th free pitcher at the Crown, Cameron Road came up on the short end of the stick Sunday morning. Although the chances came early and often for the Honey Badgers, it was a revitalized Chopped Liverpool that came out on top with the victory and earned pub bragging rights for…
While Chappy was en route to his bi-annual drunken stupor in Mexcio, Dermot submitted his recap of the game: You missed a cracker.. 2 red cards .. 4 goals. We went ahead twice but AA managed to come back to tie it up twice. With only 9 valiant players left on the field for the…
The Summer Season started up yesterday with a classic old school grudge match with those green and white hooped hooligans known as the Celtic Cowboys. Only this version didn’t have any of the Celtic charm that they usually do. They were pretty tame and dare I say, polite! Still, they were on par with or…
That’s a wrap. Cameron Road United defeated Team Somerset on their final game of the season 4-1 with two goals from Danimal, a penalty from El Jefe and an Andy Michaelis bomb from downtown. It was looking like an easy win, especially when Team Somerset only fielded 8 players to start the game, but it…
As the mysterious mist descended upon Manor, Cameron Road United defeated Deep Eddy 3-1 with one game to go in this glorious, championship campaign. A rare EMP game in Manor, coupled with the cryptic fog, set the game back a few minutes as players and referees trickled in. Like last week, CRU featured an abbreviated…
Champions! An eleven man Cameron Road squad put the league to bed with a dramatic 2-1 come from behind victory Sunday morning. With a third of the team unavailable, a gritty performance was needed against an improving mid-table 2XS.
This tiny, 7oz beer says it all. Cameron Road United underwhelmed in a lackluster performance Sunday and saw their undefeated streak come to an end. Yes, there were chances. Most notably Adam and Z in the first half and BT, Billy and Andy in the second. But the Honey Badgers couldn’t put it together and…
Cameron Road United pushed their division leading lead to 9 points with a decisive 1-0 win over the Grackles. Ryan deservingly sips his Lone Star from the a gargantuan Mizuno koozie after scoring the winning goal only moments earlier.
On a chilly, cloudy morning on the high plains of NEMP, Cameron Road battled a pesky opponent but came out on top to keep their winning streak alive as they beat the Hooligans 2-1. With several players injured and out of action (Chappy, Peterson), several players injured but giving it a go (Luke, BT),…
Cameron Road United battled a pesky FC DeVille as well as a NEMPish gale force wind, but remained undefeated with their 3-1 victory. The win wasn’t quite as convincing as the previous week’s mauling of Slaughter FC Phoenix, but the workman-like effort kept them at the top of the Over 30c table. CRU sported a…
Cameron Road United sent out a powerful message to the rest of the league yesterday with an emphatic and overwhelming show of force – dismantling Slaughter FC – Phoenix to the tune of 10-0 for the biggest opening day win ever. In what could only be described as a bloodthirsty hunt for goals from the…
The Honey Badgers defeated the Hooligans 4-2 to cap off their undefeated Fall Season and move back into sole possession of 1st place in the Over 30C division. The first half of the season has been a roaring success, with maximum points in all but 2 games and a mind-blowing +22 goal difference.
Filled with knowledge way beyond his years, Luke rightly pointed out that Cameron Road only advances out of the group stages every other year. And having just reached the pinacle of the finals in 2011, it would stand to reason that the 2012 Austin Fall Cup campaign would be a short one. Unfortunately, he was…
Cameron Road United closed out the Fall Campaign with a hard fought 0-0 draw against Slaughter FC Wolves. The point keeps CRU at the top of the table in first place and keeps their season long unbeaten streak alive. As special guest star and former Captain Andrew Magilow stood by with his family, the Honey…
Cameron Road continued their Fall 2012 assault with a resounding thumping of Takoba FC, more commonly well know as Havoc from you O.G.’s out there. In stark contrast to last week’s massive turnout for the “non-game”, this week the pickins were slim with only 11 at kickoff, and Gianluca arriving late to give us one…
Cameron Road survived a tricky tie with Austin Blues on Sunday to keep their dreams of an undefeated season alive and well. With Jay out slumming it with his “other” team, CRU relied on a dynamic duo at keeper and a massive effort by the defense to hold Austin Blues at bay and come out…
Game report as follows: Windy. Cold. SEMP. Ryan missed easiest goal of his life. Dermot with a traditional Irish on Irish yellow card. Crosley without a game winner. Peterson to Danimal to Daniel winner. The end.
With Mother Nature offering up a round of thunder poppers on Saturday, it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to the Onion Creek Soccer Sanctuary being open for business today. Fifteen Honey Badgers assembled on field #9 to do battle with the elder statesman of Deep Eddy. It became clear that Deep Eddy’s main…
In what is becoming an all too familiar scene, Cameron Road celebrated yet another total destruction of an Over 30 opponent. This week, one of the Slaughter FC teams, Phoenix. There was no rising from the fiery ashes to ascend to a glorious victory for them today as they were dismantled by the Honey Badgers…
Cameron Road just missed the stormy weather, but they brought down a deluge of goals upon the unsuspecting team Soccer Post early Sunday morning to win their second straight division game in impressive fashion. The Honey Badgers took the field at 8:00am Sunday morning as The Tree Line held off the rain for a few…
Cameron Road United opened the next chapter of their storied franchise with a resounding 3-0 battering of Team Somerset. Leaving it late to score their goals, the Honey Badgers dominated the game from start to finish, battering the Somerset goal with shot after shot but only finding the cutting edge in the second half. With…
Way Shong. In his final act for Cameron Road, re-drenched and taking it like a man. We’ll miss Way, both as a target of ice baths, and as a player and mate on and off the pitch. Cheers. HB4L. (Honey Badger for Life, son)
Cameron Road United closed out the 2012 Summer Season in style on Sunday with an emphatic 5-2 win over rivals Austin Athletic Club. The Honey Badgers took D2 by storm, and after a rocky start, finished in the top 3 with a gritty summer performance – fueled by their new “duck bill” hats. With the…
Thanks to Luke for this thrilling Match Report. It was another scalding hot day out at Onion Creek Soccer Complex, and the treeline was visibly upset at the absence of a certain team captain. Nevertheless, Cameron Road United took the field with 3 subs on the side and a confident starting lineup coming off last…
Cameron Road United continued their assault on summer soccer as they brought their unbeaten streak to four games by demolishing Babaganoutch yesterday. For the third consecutive week, Cameron Road put together a strong performance and ended up with another win as they beat Deportivo San Marcos 2-1. Cameron Road started off briskly, passing the ball around and spending the majority of the time attacking the Deportivo end of the pitch. (Of course it didn’t hurt that Deportivo…
Continuing their recent good form, Cameron Road came out guns blazing and beat Valladolid in a 7 goal thrilla 4-3. Returning to action was the mythical Jared Singer. The once prolific striker from Oklahoma. Always one to talk up a good game, Jared picked up where he left off 3 years ago scoring 2 first…
