Honey Badgers Tame Wolves to Stay Undefeated in the Fall Finale

Cameron Road stayed atop the Over 30 C table and earned themselves a keg of Guinness, courtesy of El Jéfe, with their season ending scoreless draw against Slaughter FC Wolves.

Cameron Road United closed out the Fall Campaign with a hard fought 0-0 draw against Slaughter FC Wolves. The point keeps CRU at the top of the table in first place and keeps their season long unbeaten streak alive. As special guest star and former Captain Andrew Magilow stood by with his family, the Honey Badgers assembled on the sidelines to do much work. With a quarter of the team absent for the final, Cameron Road fielded a somewhat unorthodox lineup with Andy starting at left back and Peterson forming a two man attack up front with The Italian Stallion.

For the first time this season, the defense was anchored by the twin towers of power, Cuyler and Danimal. A formidable duo who were flanked by Billy on the right – rested and ready for action after his holiday at Chappy’s summer home on the Caribbean.

The Wolves turned out to be a pesky opponent. Most of the match was played within the two 18 yard boxes as both teams slugged it out. Not many clear chances came to either side, and Cameron Road’s only breakthrough – a goal in the second half – was called back for onside.

In the end it was a workmanlike performance from a somewhat shorthanded Cameron Road Side, but the point was all that was needed to stay atop the table and remain undefeated.

With 3 weeks to prepare for the annual Austin Fall Cup, the Honey Badgers have their sights set on the silverware that they so narrowly missed out on last year.

Man-of-the-Pre-Match: Securing the all important outdoor round table as his healthy teammates were ballin’ it up at Clark Field, El Jefe gets a special pre-game Wednesday night shout out for his commitment to excellence.

Men-of-the-Match: Towering. Powerful. Colossal. The duo of Danimal and Cuyler proved impenetrable in central defense.

Man-of-the-Post-Match: Newcomer Danny, a direct replacement for our beloved and departed Way Shong, played in his final regular season game but earned several water baths on the post-game sidelines.
