CRU 9 – Soccer Post 2
Cameron Road just missed the stormy weather, but they brought down a deluge of goals upon the unsuspecting team Soccer Post early Sunday morning to win their second straight division game in impressive fashion.
The Honey Badgers took the field at 8:00am Sunday morning as The Tree Line held off the rain for a few hours. The wet grass couldn’t dampen the spirits of the 15 golden clad warriors as they lined up to start the game against another unfamiliar opponent.
Right from the start, Soccer Post were in trouble. Cameron Road flexed their muscles early and often by holding onto the ball and making runs at the keeper. This would be the story of the day. Basically, with the exception of a handful of good attacks by the Soccer Post boys, Cameron Road battered their foe with shot after shot. And low and behold, most of them actually went in at a rate of one every 10 minutes.
Here’s a quick rundown of the goals – the order might be off, there was quite a lot to remember!
- Luke smashed a volley out of the air a la Robbin Van Persie from Dave’s corner kick – goal of the day.
- Chappy side footed into the empty net as Ciro did the hard work and played the perfect pass.
- Soccer Post own goal from constant CRU pressure. Nice shot actually.
- Andy got a scrappy close-range toe poke.
- Z. Cheeky chip caught the keeper out.
- Luke bagged a 2nd as Ryan played him through.
- Andy makes a 40 yard run with the ball at his feet and hammers it home past the keeper.
- Z catches the keeper out and fires into the open goal from 30 yards.
- Luke bags his hat trick at the final whistle!
Soccer Post did manage to pull back 2 goals, but they were outgunned for the entire game. You know things are going well when Jay is playing striker, Dave is playing keeper and Chappy is playing Stopper for the final 15 minutes.
Man-of-the-Match: Luke! Luke bagged a hat trick of goals in a Grandma’s biscuit worthy performance.
