CRU 2 – Austin Athletic Club 2

While Chappy was en route to his bi-annual drunken stupor in Mexcio, Dermot submitted his recap of the game:

You missed a cracker.. 2 red cards .. 4 goals. We went ahead twice but AA managed to come back to tie it up twice. With only 9 valiant players left on the field for the last 10 minutes CRU managed to keep the dreaded AA at bay. They must had had 9 subs in all. Nervy stuff.  The number of reds really reflects the refs lack of experience with summer league rather than the game as it was pretty clean and fair. He was just a bit excitable and used reds rather than a 5 minute cool-off period. [I would say that of course] Jay managed to keep what looked like a certain goal out with what looked like a straight hit to the  face as time ebbed away.  Peterson scored the first which managed to bounce around their box before he finally let rip and put it to bed. To be fair it came at the end of one of our better moves as we started to push the ball around the wings rather than go route 1 to goal. That was towards the end of the 1st half. McKenna scored the 2nd after a delightful pass from the sideline. 3 beers post game has erased my memory of who made the pass but it was indeed a thing of beauty. All-in-all better than the Spain vs. Uruguay game which is more than can be said for the games after ours!

Man-of-the-Match: With the first goal, and what I hear was a delightful pass for the second, Peterson gets the Golden Jorts award for the week.
