If it’s not freezing out on the high plaines of NEMP, then you’ve got to deal with the 40 mph winds swirling around overhead. That was the case yesterday when Cameron Road once again rose to the occasion and scored a legitimate victory against the Strikers. We may lack the scoring touch of Celtic and…
On a chilly Sunday morning, on the frozen tundra of NEMP, under the black cloud of a possible rainout, 10 man Cameron Road vaulted two spots in the D2 table with a convincing win verses old rivals Shiner FC.
Our streak of not losing continued this weekend on the high plains of Pflugerville with a convincing draw against Deportivo Fuerza Unida. Do you even remember the team that got thrashed by Celtic 0-5 a few months ago? Who were those guys?
So where were you when Cameron Road won it’s first game of 2009? If you were one of the lucky 8 players who showed up yesterday, you were at Onion Creek field playing in a rag-tag lineup celebrating a victory and a shut out. Many thanks to Bob, David, Vestre, Peterson, Jay, Willis, Andy, Marcus…
If anyone else was writing this game report it might be a little more upbeat from the start… It’s just that I don’t know whether to be happy about scoring our first goal of the season, or upset for missing a few other chances to win it at the end? Well, enough of my mental…
After giving up a pretty soft penalty kick to Celtic early on, we managed to hold Celtic to 1 scrappy goal for the entire game. We held strong and managed to hold onto the 0-2 scoreline from the end of the first half. Who knows, if the post hadn’t saved my header from a pinpoint…
Submitted by your Keeper. Good evening Gents, We have had a tough couple of last games, last Sunday we lost 3-0 and where dominated in all aspects of play. In order to improve we will have to get more fit, play smarter and most importantly have fun. This weekend we are playing Celtic and in my…
Drag. We lost. Again. We better pull it together, we’ve got a rematch with Celtic this Sunday. Match report to follow.
…Including the celebration, minus the chest hair. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quI_LkMj4HI
The Spring schedule has finally been posted. We kick it off this Sunday with a late kickoff against Stoney Point FC. [TABLE=6]
The Celtic Cowboys knocked Cameron Road out of the Aztec Cup Sunday with a 4-0 victory. I’m still pissed. The regular season can’t come soon enough.

For those of you wondering when we kick this party off again, here’s your answer. The next round of the AZTEX Cup competition is February 8, and our Spring Season begins February 15.
For those who missed it, we had a great run in the Second Annual Austin Fall Cup tournament this past weekend, finishing in third place and narrowly missing a place in the finals with a 0-1 defeat in the semi’s. It was a tough loss, especially since we were sizzling and playing some really good,…
Well, like the Dallas Cowboys, the first half of our year hasn’t exactly gone the way we planned it. Coming off a record-setting second place D2 finish last year, we had high hopes of competing at the top of the division this time around, but things havne’t exactly gone our way. We find ourselves in…
It’s time to say goodbye to one of Cameron Road’s finest ever players as John Ammerman played his last game for the team yesterday. John has been a great player and and one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet for the last 6-8 years and we’ll all miss him on the field and off….
The Fall Season ended with another defeat for the boys in red, Cameron Road was beaten by Strikers FC on a sunny day in Manor by two goals. As many of our games developed, this was a tale of two halves. We couldn’t quite find the right gear in the first half and suffered for…
Cameron Road 3, Stoney Point 1. As I write this after a big pasta dinner, a beer or four, and a giant bowl of Dutch chocolate ice cream it still sounds sweet. Wearing our always effective alternate ARM jerseys, Cameron Road finally produced a winning performance this afternoon against a pesky Stoney Point squad. I’m…
Andy and Neely tied the knot on Saturday night. In typical Andy fashion, the groomsmen were either barefoot, wearing soccer cleats, climbing boots or running shoes. It was a great night for all and we wish them well.
I think it’s safe to say that we are the best team at the bottom of the division.
We just can’t catch a break this season, can we? For all our efforts of peppering the goal (or vicinity of the goal) with shot after shot, unfortunatly we’ve got nothing to show for it.. again. We must have had 15 shots on goal yesterday, some came close; some… well were kicked in the general direction of the goal.
Did we gain a point, or loose two? That’s the question. At this stage in this difficult season, I’ll take the point and continue our tortuse-like climb up the Div 2 table. We got some good news early as Dermot returned from injury and Onome made his welcomed return to the pitch after a season…
For some reason I’m in no mood to write the game report. I think I’m still upset that we missed an opportunity to get the full three points yesterday. I’ll get over it.
To paraphrase BT on the sidelines, “this game used to be a marque matchup, but now it’s a battle of the cellar dwellers…”
The “Battle of the Pubs” lived up to the hype, but unfortunately for us, we eneded up on the wrong side of the score sheet…. again. Not even the return of our former star forward, Jared, could boost us to victory and a much needed 3 points.
We started the game up two players and ended it down one. Failing to capitalize on our first half advantage and possession, we quickly went down 0-1 from a 40 yard bomb from a shorthanded Black Star Austin team. You can call it luck or a great shot, anyway you slice it, it gave them…
We could blame this one on the fact that 90% of the team was fighting a hangover from Andy’s bachelor party, or that Hurrican Ike was a bust, but honestly we should have come away with at least a point from this game. Give Struggle some credit, they came out in the first half and…
In the third installment of the bowling ball chronicles, we headed out for a day of celebrating Andy’s upcoming wedding in typical guy fashion: With guns, the wilderness, beer, a sportsbar, the bowling ball, downtown chaos, a bicycle parade, and a lot of screaming. The day started out at Texas Paintball, where we proceeded to…
It was hot, we were a bit rusty, the Ranch lacked the power of the mohawk, but we still managed to get a victory and start off the new season on the right foot. We scored within the first 10 minutes of the game, unfortunately it was against our own team as an unlucky series…
Thanks to all who survied the cabana party at our house this weekend. It was a great success! And for those of you who missed the fun, be sure and check it out next time it rolls around. Note to self: beer, margaritas and Wild Turkey straight from the bottle are not the best of…
I know I speak for everyone when I wish Captain Andrew Magilow and his family nothing but success and good times as they move on to Big D. He has been the glue that has held Cameron Road United togehter for almost 10 years. Good luck brother, you know where to find us if you’re…
Nice way to finish off the summer season. A resounding 7-0 win against an overmatched (let’s face it boys, this wasn’t Jah Love we were playing) Chopped Liverpool. Highlights included a Ryan Willis hat trick, a thumping header by yours truly, additional goals by Bob and Dermot, a shutout by the defense, and Chris Peterson…
