CRU 1 – Strikers FC 3

The Fall Season ended with another defeat for the boys in red, Cameron Road was beaten by Strikers FC on a sunny day in Manor by two goals. As many of our games developed, this was a tale of two halves. We couldn’t quite find the right gear in the first half and suffered for another sluggish start. Strikers put us under constant pressure and put in two goals in the first half.

The second half started more positively with Ryan Willis scoring a quick goal. A clever close-range chip was cleared off the line just as it was rolling at a snale’s pace into the net, but Ryan had the sense to follow up his own shot and we were quickly back in the game. We really did control the second half and spent most of the time in Strikers territory, but couldn’t manage to get that tying goal.

Even after the Striker’s striker pounced on a missed pass in the back and scored their third goal of the afternoon, we didn’t give up and kept looking for goals. Just wish we could find a way to keep up that intensity for the entire game.

Man-of-the-Match: David Levingston, fresh from opening day of deer hunting season, had victory in his sights and gave a spirited performance. Playing mostly outside of his defensive comfort zone, David made many good runs down the wings subbing in for the midfield. One play in particular, a nifty run and backheel, sealed the award for him. Good luck on passing the Bar Exam too… he said he should find out this week how it went.
