CRU 0 – Black Star Austin 2
We started the game up two players and ended it down one. Failing to capitalize on our first half advantage and possession, we quickly went down 0-1 from a 40 yard bomb from a shorthanded Black Star Austin team. You can call it luck or a great shot, anyway you slice it, it gave them some momentum to weather the storm of the first 15 minutes and regroup while their remaining players trickled in. The added insult to injury by knocking in a header in front of the goal to close out the half.
With both teams at full strength in the second half, the game was more even, but we still didn’t manage to find the back of the net. Full time, 0-2 loss. Disapointing to say the least. It’s not like we were totally outplayed, we actually didn’t look that bad, we just can’t seem to put together a solid 90 minutes. There’s always next week though…. against the Celtic Cowboys, on ACL weekend. Come on boys!
Man of the Match – I’m giving this one to Bob, who was everywhere on the pitch. Tracking back to defend and surging forward to attack. He nearly scored on a looping free kick and another time with a close range shot on goal. And let’s face it, he could have won it solely on the fact that he had proper socks on and not those hideous, tie-dye numbers that he’s been sporting around town.
