The Fall Season in Review

Unfortunately, our last game with John ends in defeat, but we can still celebrate his contribution over the years and the imminent arrival of Scott and the post-game Lone Star.

Well, like the Dallas Cowboys, the first half of our year hasn’t exactly gone the way we planned it. Coming off a record-setting second place D2 finish last year, we had high hopes of competing at the top of the division this time around, but things havne’t exactly gone our way. We find ourselves in an position unfamiliar to us since the dark days of D4 – close to the bottom of the table.

After a strong opening day win, things kind of fell flat with a string of defeats and only one other win. Losing Captain Magilow to start off the season, having Ciro tear his ACL and now having lost Ammerman to a pair of hiking boots, a billowy down parka and an imminent full beard won’t help us in the coming months either, but that’s what we’re up against.

On the positive sides, we did manage to play hard and actually play some decent soccer at times, hopefully we’ll get a few more brakes and climb back up the table.

Ahhh, who am I kidding, we just haven’t let all the other teams in our division know that we were rope-a-doping all of them like Muhamad Ali. So when they play us in the Spring, they’ll think we’re pushovers but we’ll unleash our full fury on them and score goals at will, defend like a steel trap, pass the ball like the Argentine national team, and celebrate victory after glorious victory like the tiny hobbits dressed in robes and pajamas after saving Middle Earth from the clutches of the mighty Sauron. (is anyone reading this?)

Happy holidays. Don’t forget to come to practice. Don’t forget the tournament in 3 weeks. Dont’ forget to pay me if you haven’t. And don’t forget to vote.
