CRU 0 – Deportivo 4
I think it’s safe to say that we are the best team at the bottom of the division.
We just can’t catch a break this season, can we? For all our efforts of peppering the goal (or vicinity of the goal) with shot after shot, unfortunatly we’ve got nothing to show for it.. again. We must have had 15 shots on goal yesterday, some came close; some… well were kicked in the general direction of the goal. I take the blame for the first such opportunity, getting played into a one-on-one situation with the keeper early on and fluffing it horribly. Little did I know that my miss would catch like a virus and be the standard for the afternoon.
I do give Deportivo credit, they were a talented team with some great passing, but they were in no way in control of the game. For every goal that we gave away, we had three chances to get one back.
That’s the positive that I’m going to take away from yesterday’s game, the fact that we never gave up, continued to attack and continuted to take shots until the very end.
I don’t know what we’ve done to offend the Soccer Gods this season, but this week try sleeping with your cleats, wearing your smelly jersey to work, taking a shower with your socks on, and drinking a lot of beer at the Crown on Wednesday. This Sunday is John Ammerman’s last game, and I refuse to send him out with nothing less than the victory that he deserves.
Man-of-the-Match: This was an easy one. BT was on fire. Snakebitten, but on fire. He missed by inches in the first half, hit the post in the second, and must have had 5 other shots on target late in the game. He even showed some trickery in rolling his free kick to me at the top of the box when I was unmarked… of course I blasted it wide somehow, but it showed his efforts to play the team game while trying to put it on his back. Nice job BT.
