Cameron Road United defeated Black Star Austin in dramatic fashion on Sunday. The defense continued to shine, pitching a shutout at one end and scoring the winner at the other. There was a good vibe in the air before the game, with three subs available, and a timely appearance from Pat (who arrived by black…
In what was billed as a two-fer weekend of soccer action, Cameron Road United fell twice on consecutive days and got knocked out of the Aztex Cup competition and fell further down the Division 2 table. The news off the pitch wasn’t any better as several players earned early vacations with injuries.
Trying to bounce back from last week’s disappointing loss, Cameron Road United again fell to a second half goal and were narrowly beaten by the Strikers 1-0 on Sunday. Another frustrating day at the office saw the tying goal disallowed, and several shots clank off the woodwork.
On an exceptionally windy day out at Onion Creek, a seemingly friendly game of footy turned bloody and then got ugly, as Cameron Road succumbed to two late second half goals to fall to Austin International.
Ahh to be sore again on a Monday morning after a Cameron Road victory. In case you were running a marathon, out of town, recovering from an injury, or taking advantage of the fleeting early afternoon sunshine, here’s the lowdown on the showdown with Massive Attack.
As the Onion Creek outdoor fields lay dormant for the winter, there is a plethora of soccer being played indoors by a rag-tag group of Cameron Roaders, looking for an edge come February.
On the last weekend of soccer for 2009, Cameron Road scored a double victory. First, on Saturday we gained safe passage into the second round of the Aztec Cup competition by beating the Magdigal Dragons in a 6-3 thrilla. Then on Sunday, by shear force of our awesome pre-game display, Black Star Austin turned tail…
We may have not played the most entertaining soccer this weekend as our low scores indicate, but if there was a trophy for the most entertaining team on the sidelines, you can damn sure believe we would have one it hands down. Fueled by positive displays on the field, lots of beer, propane-charred sausages and…
Once again, Cameron Road did itself proud with a nice run in the annual Austin Fall Cup, but ended up losing the semi-final match for the second year in a row. This year’s rag-tag bunch won the first game 1-0, tied the second game 1-1, and won the third game 2-0 to finish top of…
It seems that even Mother Nature has conspired to keep Cameron Road United winless this season. A monsoon-like rainstorm quickly ended this week’s installment of “the most frustrating season ever” five minutes into the second half of what was looking like a promising performance.
As the longest season in Cameron Road United history marches on, CRU again went down in flames for its fifth straight loss on the fall season. It seems as though the other teams in the division are passing around the secret formula for success against Cameron Road: score a few early goals and hang on…
Hoping to start climbing back up the table, Cameron Road fought a hard battle early Sunday morning against a difficult Black Star ATX team but managed to come up just short at the end of the day. The final score read Cameron Road United 3, Black Star ATX 4, and as the score suggested, this…
On a balmy fall day where you could reach out and touch the tree line, Cameron Road United again found itself trying to desperately claw it’s way back from an early deficit to rescue a point – but like OU QB Sam Bradford’s mercurial throwing shoulder, we again fell on hard times.
For the second week IN A ROW, we got rained out. See you at practice on Wednesday, and at the Crown & Anchor to discuss our offering to the Soccer Rainout Gods.
Last game of the summer season and we responded with a nice late comeback win with loads of post-game beer options. This game had it all, early goals, late goals, comebacks, fights, you name it. Since Moneyland didn’t show up last week for their game, we were a little worried that they would do the…
On a day where you could fry an egg on my forehead, Cameron Road fought hard, but ended up just short against Mike’s Hard Lemonade drinking Black Star Austin. The scoreline might not have shown it, but this was a very close game and we had plenty of chances to get some points. Black Star…
For the second week in a row, Cameron Road United put in another stellar team effort to come back from an early goal and rock Austin Blues with three unanswered goals. After a game like that, when you’re drenched in sweat and the legs are burning because you played close to 90 minutes, you just…
Sometimes playing in the summer season can be tricky – the vacation bug can strike at any time, making it challenging to field a full team – today was one of those days. If your 8-year old was watching the game on ESPN, he would have asked “Daddy, where are BT, Peterson, Dermot, Jay, Big…
Chappy here…. posting up Lukes report all the way from Mexico. See you guys soon! As team “Chap-tain” settled his gargantuanly-nude head down for a lazy week of Coronas and charro beans, Cameron Road United strapped on the supple leather boots, slid on the compression shorts, and groomed their finely-trimmed war beards for a battle against…
Dear constant reader of the most popular D2 AMSA blog in the city of Austin, after a week’s absence in the fine fine state of Mississippi, I am back to report on what was a valiant second half comeback yesterday against old nemesis Struggle FC. Although everyone could reach out an touch the win that…
Thanks to Luke for this Game Report! WIth our captain, or should I say “The Chaptain”, being out for a few weeks due to a mecca to Mississippi and Mexico, I have been honored with the task of keeping this well-oiled blog flowing with the sweat, blood and ink of our team. The proverbial torch…
In an 8 goal thrilla, Cameron Road came out on top and got the first win of the summer season. It really wasn’t as close as the scoreline showed, but it was pretty exciting stuff. First off, lets hear a round of applause for the return of Ciro to the pitch! 7 long months after…
I don’t know about you guys, but my back is flaming red. Who’s idea was it to go shirtless yesterday anyway? So yeah, the summer campaign didn’t exactly get started the way we envisioned it, even though we outnumbered Elite FC in sideline tents 3-1. We lost the game by one goal, 1-2.

One a day where summer seemed to be on hold and the cool weather was a welcome surprise, Cameron Road bounced back from last week’s embarassing defeat to win our last game of the season against Shiner FC 3-1. We controlled the game for the first 20 minutes or so, partly because Shiner started off…
To quote The Stranger in the Big Lebowski, “sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you…” Looks like we got eaten by the bear yesterday. The first half was a total disaster. We went down 0-4 and were not looking very good. We couldn’t string any passes together, couldn’t create many chances, couldn’t…
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The Good: Our points steak continued for the 5th straight game. The Bad: Marcus went down with a possible ACL injury early in the first half. The Ugly: We let Struggle back into the game with minutes to go. It sure seemed like we were already deep into…
Cameron Road exploded for 8 goals against a severely out-aged group of teenagers from the mean streets of San Marcos yesterday afternoon. To be fair, I’m not sure why Gary Job Corps got thrown into the deep end of D2 when they should be playing at recess, but what’cha gonna do. It’s fair to say…
So who will score 4 against Gary Job Corps this weekend with the sweet sounds of “Somebody’s Watching Me” in the backround? It could be you! httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUikdnvxMUg
