Elite FC 2 – CRU Extreme Sunburn

I don’t know about you guys, but my back is flaming red. Who’s idea was it to go shirtless yesterday anyway?

So yeah, the summer campaign didn’t exactly get started the way we envisioned it, even though we outnumbered Elite FC in sideline tents 3-1. We lost the game by one goal, 1-2.

We started off the first half without gaining a lot of the ball and paid the price for it when Elite stuck with an early counter attacking goal. We seemed to go into our typical early goal meltdown mode for the next ten minutes, but finally started to push for the equalizer, gain more time on the ball, and calm down a bit. Scott had a great close range header fly just over the bar, and Cuyler blazed a few shots toward goal, but we couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half.

We had more of the ball in the second half and got off a lot of shots. Bob, BT and new striker Steve all had good attempts but we couldn’t find the breakthrough goal. At the other end, an Elite player lined up a shot from about 35 yards out and nailed it into the top corner. To be fair, it was a great shot, but I doubt he could do it again if he tried 100 times.

Gaining more momentum and possession of the ball, David marched it up the left flank and was awarded a free kick when he got shoved to the ground. Being in the mood for retaliation, David smacked a massive free kick right into the box from just outside the halfway line (which might have went in anyway) that Dermot got a head on to score.

We were back in it, but just couldn’t get that second goal. Disappointing because I though we would do better, especially with the great turnout, but it just didn’t happen.

Man-of-the-Match: Dermot is our first back-to-back winner with goals in 2 straight games.
