2026 Summer Game #4
The Summer Season is officially heating up as Cameron Road suited up for a nooner against The Grackles. They were a big lot of 20/30 years olds looking to party in t-shirts since their Captain forgot their jerseys. No worries, Honey Badgers don’t give a shit (unless you are Adam and think they are all the referee)
Jefe was missing in action with The Tent, but it was Conor to the pre-game rescue, arriving in time to set up Tent 2 to give the crew some shade. There was also dual misting action technology as Chappy and Jake brought their fans. (Chappy of course, in a show of dominance, had a bigger fan with a bigger battery and made Jake trek 10 gallons of water to the field)
Cameron Road had okay numbers, but could have used more. Thankfully the trio of Conor, Matt and Rubin were there to round out the squad, which was a little light on defenders…thanks Guillermo!!! 🙂
With Danny in goal, Billy, Chris G, Conor and Chappy were at the back. Adam, Ciro, Yunir and Rubin were in the midfield, and Peterson and Derek started up top with Jake and Matt chomping at the bit to sub in first.
The new look team was looking pretty good, but the Grackles got two first half goals from their young legs. Cameron Road could have easily done the same as Derek and Peterson narrowly missed connecting on a great cross from the right, and then Chappy dumped in one from the left that could have also found its mark.
Yunir earned a free kick on the right side of the pitch, sent in a glorious ball that Conor first time volleyed but went just inches over the crossbar. Would have been goal of the year if it would have gone in.
At the half, Cameron Road was feeling pretty good about the goals that were there for the taking, as they feasted on Adam’s oranges, and a Danimal self-pineapple.
The second half was basically DANIMAL ON FIRE. He literally stopped 10 shots with puma-like reflexes, including a double save from the ground that was semi-amazing. For real. The Honey Badgers were still trying to get back into the game, but damn those 20 year old Grackle legs kept coming at them so it was tough going.

Derek had a very unique throw in late in the half for comic relief.
Ciro came into the water break HOT. Not core temp hot (which was probably also true), but fired up hot. Unusual behavior from the normally calm, cool and collected midfielder, but he was trying to rally the troops for the final push.
Danimal had one last bit of heroics left in the tank as Conor tried to clear a ball, but it shanked back towards the CRU goal, hit the post, went right back out to an attacker and forced Danny into yet another awesome save.
Good fight from the older generation for sure.
Man-of-the-Match: No questions about this one, Danimal was ON FIRE. Read up Nolan!!
Post-Match-Report: Ah, the post match, the real meat and potatoes of a Sunday afternoon game. The boys were in full form commenting on all games around them. Conor fired up the grill and served many a sausage. Danny (and his phone) took a hit from about a gallon of tatty water courtesy of the post-game-jester, and Jake took the other 3 gallons willingly.
