Best Practice Ever

Last week, at an undisclosed top secret location, those who showed up for practice were treated to a carpet of lush, green, thick grass. It sure beat the hell of the Clark Field moonscape (which is currently under renovations of astroturf-like proportions). Alas, this was probably a one-time deal as other activities are scheduled to…

Cameron Road doesn’t always win, but when they do, they prefer to do it against the Most Interesting Team in the World.

Cameron Road United posted their second straight shutout en route to their second straight 3-0 win on Sunday when they beat up on The Most Interesting Team in the World. Another strong turnout  of 17 strong saw CRU through another 2:00pm scorcher, with special guest stars Danny, Dermot and McKenna making their Summer Season debuts.

CRU 3 – Indios 0

Everything is just a little better with a win, isn’t it? The post-game beer is colder, the hundred degree heat isn’t quite so stifling, the Monday morning aches and pains aren’t quite so bad. That’s how the Cameron Road United crew is feeling today after a dominant victory over INDIOS on Sunday. CRU finally showed…

10 Man Cameron Road Fall to Austin Athletic Club 0-2 in the Season Finale.

All things considered, a short handed Cameron Road United closed out the most forgettable of seasons with a gritty 10 man performance, featuring a player that had never even seen the pitch for them. Thanks to Andy’s friend, and newest teammate Adam, for strapping on the yellow jersey and giving it 90 minutes. Adam will…

The Irish + Tornadic First Half Wind = Too Much for Cameron Road United to Overcome

In a game of two distinct halves, Cameron Road United fell to the Celtic Cowboys by a final score of 6-1. With 11 players to shuffle around, half of which were suffering from the previous night’s tribute to Luke’s upcoming wedding, the bloodshot-eyed boys in yellow took the field against a Celtic Cowboy team that…

20 Minutes of Chaos Outshines 70 Minutes of Hard Work as Cameron Road Loses to ATX United

Cameron Road fell to D2 newcomers ATX United 6-1 on an overcast final day of SXSW in Austin. A particularly black cloud covered the field for a 20 minute spell in the 2nd half while Cameron Road was still only down by a single goal and looking like the team more likely to put one…

Battered and Bruised – Black Star Bursts Cameron Road’s Bubble

Cameron Road United fell to Black Star Austin 3-1 on the high plains of NEMP today despite a gutsy performance from the twelve players who were in town and up for the early morning match. Battling the switch to daylight saving time and a reorganized lineup, Cameron Road United started the morning off with Jay…

Massive Attack sinks Cameron Road with a second half… well, Massive Attack.

Different week, same story for Cameron Road United as they continue to fight the good fight at Onion Creek, but wound up just short again. A really solid first half performance saw the CRU defense hold Massive Attack at bay, while at the other end Cameron Road’s attackers had a few cracks at goal. Luke…

Dives, slipery shirts & ‘the divot.’ Cameron Road’s losing streak continues.

Cameron Road (or the Bad News Bears of D2), lost yesterday’s game to Valladolid 2-1 and continued their snake bitten run through the fall season. Finishing the campaign with 7 points is actually a high compared to the last couple seasons, but losing 4 out of the last 7 games by 1 goal has kept…

Pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars and a last minute header by Bob proves to be the Lucky Charm for Cameron Road

There’s nothing like beating the Celtic Cowboys on a Sunday morning. Doesn’t matter which version your facing, when you see those green and white stripes on the opposite side of the pitch, you wanna take’em down. And that’s just what Cameron Road did yesterday in a thrilling 3-2 victory.

As the Win Comes Sweeping down the (Nefarious unEven Maladroit) Plain

It was time once again for our bi-annual death match at NEMP, the northern in-bred step cousin of Onion Creek. There was something all too familiar about NEMP, something that, once we stepped onto the field to warm up, I knew we didn’t miss: a gnarly wind with daddy issues and a surface that made…
