What a difference a week makes! Fresh from an embarrassing second half collapse against the Madrigal Dragons last week, the Honey Badgers were thirsty for cobra’s blood. They were onto the sent early, as they showed up 17 strong before kickoff. Rumor has it that Jefe sent up camp in the 7:00 hour, finding just…
For the second time in three tries, the Honey Badgers made it to the Austin Fall Cup Finals in a thrilling, captivating, monumental, epic weekend of soccer and sausages. The Cameron Road Executive Council did its homework with the pre-tournament planning as they secured the services of Travis, Nick and Berto to add a “Punter Bump”…
In the battle for the Crown & Anchor, Cameron Road United came up just short and fell to Chopped Liverpool on Sunday. It was a closely contested game that went down to the wire in typical derby fashion. If not for some bad luck and some heroics from the Liverpool keeper, the Honey Badgers would…
They had a coach we had none… they had subs we had one…two set pieces is how they won…many beers were drank and the day was done! -Jefé
Sunday morning brought Cameron Road United their first victory in their mouthwatering new kit. Fueled by 76.9% red sock synergy, the Honey Badgers survived an early scare and roared back to a convincing 4-2 victory on the dew-soaked fields at Onion Creek. With that many red socks on the field, Takoba really didn’t stand…
The Honey Badgers were handed their first loss of the season as they were beaten by CC United 4-2. Andy scored on his 40th birthday and Ryan stuck in a penalty.
Onion Creek still lay in a deep fog as the Honey Badgers began to assemble at Field 6 for what was to become a heated 8 AM matchup with the Grackles. The field was covered in dew and el Jefe had camp pitched by 6:47 AM by what appeared to be a small pile…
On a late Sunday afternoon in crispy October, the Onion Creek wind swiftly swept in from the south, whispering of unforgiving bounces and exuding an “anything goes” attitude. The Badgers of Cameron Road United gathered their strength at Field 6 of OCSC for the late 4 pm game. CRU made a good showing in numbers with 15 strong, and erecting a three-tent…
Cameron Road finally put it all together in their first win of the season. Two great goals, some even better saves, awesome shutout defense, and a total team effort allowed the Honey Badgers to close out the game in style. With McKenna and Z unavailable, Cameron Road elected to play a lone, bald front man…
With the dreadful summer season fading into memory like that one time Ryan claims to have scored five goals in a game, the Honey Badgers embarked on their second season in Over 30B with high hopes. Unlike last year, there was no Chris Peterson party to celebrate his freshly painted deck to knock out half the…
Thank God it’s over. While some of the other Over 30 B teams were lounging around in D5, Cameron Road United was given the harsh task of competing in the “under 18 year old & stock your team with premier player league” – D3. It was rough going, but today’s game against an Over 30…
In what is becoming a futile effort to play two complete halves of soccer, Cameron Road surrendered their 2-1 lead against red-hot Deportivo yesterday in a 3-2 loss. The Honey Badgers actually carved out one of their best performances of the season against another bunch of youngins’, but failed to hold onto the lead in…
Well, it only took 7 weeks, but the Honey Badgers finally got their first win of the summer season yesterday, beating a depleted Most Interesting Bitchy Team In The World 3-2. In typical Cameron Road fashion, the game included a squandered lead followed up by a brilliant comeback. Lots of ins and outs to the…
The summer slide continued yesterday as Cameron Road United fell to Morelia 4-2. Although they were outplayed in the first half and went down by three goals, it’s wasn’t all doom and gloom as the Honey Badgers fought back and had the better second half. Late goals scored by Way and Dermot ignited the comeback against…
Cameron Road earned it’s first point of the Summer Season yesterday in a 3-3 draw the Slaughter Inferno crew. It was a competitive game that was marked by some dodgy refereeing and a crazy final 10 minute, 4 goal finale. With a full crew of subs in the tent (including fresh Punter meat Aaron and Glendon),…
The Summer Season. A glorious mixed bag of games versus just about anybody of any age. This week’s edition featured a matchup against Galaxia FC, who took pieces from their D1 team and mixed them with about 10 talented kids in the 17 year old range. It was a little strange. They Honey Badgers fielded…
The votes are in and after a very close two horse race between Jay and Danimal, the keeper came away with this year’s Golden Gigi award. With back to back defensive winners, will an offensive player come away with the goods next year? We’ll have to wait and see. But for now, congrats Jay, you…
The Honey Badgers started the summer season off with a highly entertaining 7 goal thriller against the Austin Blues. The narrow 4-3 loss was tough to swallow, especially since the referee disallowed Ryan’s would-be winning goal near the end of the game. It was a good turnout for the first game, and on-loan Punter Travis…
If you happened to catch the Champions League final, it was a good analogy for The Honey Badgers last game of the 2013/2014 season. Like Atletico Madrid, Cameron Road stood toe to toe with Austin Athletic Club until they were overcome by injuries, exhaustion, and a lack of fresh bodies to call upon. The final…
