LOSS: 5-4 vs Balcones Fault – Haunted Balcones Fault is All Tricks and No Treats in Halloween Thrilla
Thanks to Jefe for the mostly coherent recap…..
Dateline: Austin’s False Fall, Sunday, October 31 – Halloween. Would last week’s slip-up with only a 7 man squad still haunt the Honey Badgers, or would they turn things around and get back to their winning ways? Would their be a victory feast of quality candy inside Badger Town, or would the squad be dining on crap candy corn and stale smarties alone at night as hordes of pre-teens in Squid Game costumes came to their doors with outstretched arms and pillow cases?
All would be answered in the upcoming 90 minutes.
Again, the subs bench was a desolate wasteland. More injuries and excused absences robbed the Badgers of fresh legs to deal with Balcones Fault’s bulging candy bag of subs.
With their Captain missing, seeking to polish the great bunion down to a pebble using the power of the Caribbean waters and the Mexican shoreline, Jefe was in charge of the pre-game ziplock. Were enough bones also rolled and inserted?
One player who did return from injury was Peterson….but where was Big Dave? Poor smoke management was his downfall as the family of little Big Dave’s craved their customary Halloween feast of candied pork.
The Badgers lined up 11ish strong and took the field, but the opening minutes were unkind. A bedazzling display of Hill Country offense put the Honey Badgers back on their haunches. They could have scored 3 goals in the opening quarter of an hour, but the collective Honey Badger shit was got together just in time to settle into the game.
Still, Hill Country scored. And then they scored again.
Sensing the game getting out of hand, Peterson’s fresh legs sent it into the back of the net. Engage comeback mode.
Jefe delivers a cross to Adam but he can only manage a Chappy-like pass right to the Hill Country keeper in full Zeke costume.
Oranges, and Adam’s Arms were dying.
As the second half started, all was well as Gianluca netted his 10th goal of the season with an outside the box shot. Viva Gigi!
Then Danimal delivered a full pineapple goal at the near post to see Cameron Road take the lead at 3-2.
But with the subs bench empty, the Badger’s legs became weary and Hill Country scored two more times, or maybe 3.
Down again, Badgers fight back as Jefe sends Hotmail to Gigi for his second of the game, but was it too little too late? Apparently yes as the Badgers came close but lost a thrilla 5-4. Thanks to all for the resilient effort by all who where there!
