WIN: 5-3 vs Chopped Liverpool – Dormant Badgers Storm Back To Life To Defend The Crown & Anchor from Chopped Livers!

It wasn’t Wrexham winning promotion level excitement, but Cameron Road roared back to life with a thrilling and complete victory against Chopped Liverpool in a battle for Crown & Anchor superiority.

After two crushing defeats, it was time to right the ship. With Chappy out of town, Jefe was in charge of the precious ziplock (and hopefully icing Ciro). The Badgers were short a few subs with 14 players available, but Ol’Schwarzy could only hang around for the first half. No worries, some who have been itching for more playing time found it today.

The word on the street is that Badger goal number one was an absolute thing of beauty with a great build up. The ball zipped around the back patiently a few times until Ciro popped up and found Schwarzy. Brian delivered the ball to Gianluca, woh muscled his way into prime position and…. passed it to a wide open Sweet D who slid it in for an early 1-0 lead.

Badger goal number two saw Guillermo stop into midfield to win the ball as little Ciro dropped into his Wednesday night center defensive position, telling Guillermo to stay up. The little Sensei is always wise. So wise as Guillermo won another ball and slid it to Derek, forcing the keeper into the Onion Creek taint (no man’s land) as Derek scooped it over for his second. Hopefully the scoop was Milton-worthy.

Chopped Liverpool got back into the game with a goal, but it wouldn’t matter.

Oranges? No report on their flavor, size, or voracity as of yet.

With Schwarzy having to exit the premises for a pre-arranged 10:00 meeting of some sort, the Badgers were down one sub.

Badger goal number three was divine as Jesus stole the ball from a Liverpool defender and chipped the keeper who was way out of position.

Next up was a double dose of Danimal. Sounds like the Badgers got a bit of the luck they haven’t been getting with goal number four as a Derek free kick outside the box was handled by the Liverpool wall, but even with Danny shouting “HAND BALL” the ref let play roll on…. very fortuitous as the ball fell to Danny to tap in from close range for goal number four.

The final goal from Danny was a power header from Derek’s cross at the back post. Time to recognize the Badgers have two Bald Domes of Power as BDOP2 has been the one making all the noise of late.

The Livers nicked a second goal somewhere in the mix, but it didn’t matter.

To summarize. Cameron Road United is the CROWN, Chopped Liverpool were the Anchor and the Punters are still the dingleberry barnacles clinging onto our awesomeness (thank you Jefe for that elegant wrap up).

Man-of-the-Match: Would it fall to Chappy, with his clever slump-busting managerial tactic of leaving the boys without his leadership and unbridled wild talent? Um, that’s a hard no. Derek burst onto the scene with two goals and two assists. He’s been killing it at practice too so I’m thinking there is a correlation. Shout out to Danimal with a second half brace too.

Post-Match-Report: Too cold to ice Ciro? Hopefully this is fake news.
