You know that one game of Summer Soccer when you start to question your life choices? That mid-August 2:00 game when you don’t have enough players, it’s about 150 degrees outside, and your opponent has about 10 subs? Yeah, that was yesterday.

Surprisingly, the Honey Badgers overcame most of these obstacles and fought hard against Deportivo la Real. Cameron Road was unlucky to give up the one goal, and played a really good game.

Verity Joe arrived a little late (after playing 90 minutes before the match as he will tell you), to give Cameron Road one precious sub. There was also a welcome BT appearance to round out the 11 Honey Badgers to start the match.

The first half was solidly even, and there was a double stack of oranges for halftime.

The second half was more of the same with both teams trying to survive the heat and nab a goal. Jay was at his usual best making 3 or 4 quality saves.

Deportivo pulled out a play from the cheeky collection as they took a very quick free kick which put their big forward in one-on-one vs Jay before Cameron Road could even get setup. They took the lead with that which only set up a blistering attempt at a comeback.

Derek had the best chances to close out the game, but it ended up 0-1, bad guys. Still, Cameron Road put in a solid performance for the 2nd week in a row and a definitely trending upwards with the Fall Season on the horizon.
