Cameron Road to launch full CSI investigation after trace amounts of vaseline and WD-40 found on backup keeper’s gloves after a 2-1 loss to Capoeira.

As the ghost of the curse of the ARM jersies struck again, Cameron Road lost their third straight game on field #10 and fell to the dancing warriors of Capoeira 2-1. With the recently discovered news that Jay is leading a second life with another family, jack of all positions Luke stepped up to fill the void between the pipes and earned instand Man-of-the-Pre-Match honors for his brave offensive sacrifice.

Cameron Road hoped to christian their new baby blue alternate tops with a victory and some exquisite play befitting their design. Another full crew on the sidelines showed up to debute the new kit, including the return of big man Cuyler to slot into the back four.

With the wind at their backs, Cameron Road hoped to nick and early goal and started the game strong in search of the opener. Unfortunately, Dave pulled up lame with a blown quad and had to sit the rest of the game out on the sidelines.  With some decent attacking play, CRU got close several times as McKenna and Willis showed signs of life in front of goal. But when a Capoeira player handled the ball inside the box with his hand, Ryan stepped up to for the p/k and sent the keeper the wrong way giving the Honey Badgers a 1-0 lead.

Credit to the defense for letting Luke hang loose for much of the half. He wasn’t forced to make any crazy saves early on. Cuyler was his usual self smashing away attacks while Billy and Crosley were both solid down the flanks.

With a 1-0 lead, sweet looking new jerseys, and 45 minutes to go, things were looking good for Cameron Road… and then Capoeira snuck in the tying goal to set up a frantic last 30 minutes. CRU had a few good chances and Gianluca came close to scoring the winner with a blistering left-footed rocket than just missed beating the keeper. Chappy also got into the action with a header inside the box from a CP free kick. But it was the brazilian dance warriors who managed to sneak in a spitball that ultimately held up as the winner.

Down a goal with little time to play, Cameron Road launched an all or nothing attack and nearly tied it up at the death as Willis made an excellent run, managed to round the keeper, but had his last-minute blast just saved by the diving keeper.

So another close game on field #10 ended in a CRU loss, and for the first time in a long time, the boys will be glad to escape the clutches of the tree line for the wide open plains of NEMP next week when they go searching for their opening win of the season.
