Cameron Road Holds Deportivo to a 1-1 Draw…
… for the last 75 minutes.
Unfortunately, Deportivo won the battle of the first 15 minutes by scoring 4 quick goals.
Anyway, it was a rough day at the office for the boys in yellow and blue as they could not fight their way back from the opening hurricane katrina of goals. Give credit to CRU after a self-destructive start, they managed to hold Deportivo to a late penalty kick and pulled one back when Scott knocked in the rebound of Chappy’s header off his face. But in the end, trying to get back into the game after falling behind by 4 quick goals proved to be too much on this final summer league day.
All in all, it was a successful summer campaign. 6 wins and 3 losses. Ryan Willis walked away with the Golden Boot, scoring 5 goals, and was handsomely rewarded with a Fosters ‘big boy’ 24oz after the game. Thanks to everyone for coming out and playing in the blazing heat – it ain’t easy.
Time for the team to rest up, play some golf, continue to improve at practice and wait for the fall season to begin. Whatever division we end up in, D3 or D2, we need to get off to a flying start to avoid playing catchup in the spring.
Until then, cheers!
