LOSS: 4-2 vs Mean-Eyed-Cat
The Summer Season is back! While most folks cower from the annual heat dome in their air conditioned dwellings, those brave enough to don the yellow jersey suffer for the badge at Onion Creek during the sweltering summer Texas months. This year is no exception as Cameron Road welcomed back a bunch of friends and family to party down in the shade of Jefe’s tent.
If the first game was any indication, this season will a great mix with a plentiful roster. Cameron Road had 19 players show up for game number one against Mean Eyed Cat, who were a mix of Over 40A and Over 40 Premier.
The Badgers were looking pretty good to start the game, integrating both old and new players into the mix. Mark was back for his annual father and son duo as were Big Nick, Scotty, and Conor with his cooler full of goodies.
Here’s a quick rundown of notable events:
First Half:
Mark stole a ball and calmly slotted it to the far post for a Father’s Day present to Jesus. Jefe saw his first action since the first game of the Spring, which was awesome. Chappy proved that antibiotics and 95 degree temps probably don’t mix as he couldn’t track down Scotty’s brilliant 30 yard cross to the back post. Mean Eyed Cat scored a few goals. Scotty ended the half with 4 or 5 open players in the box but went rogue with a pass to a defender.
Halftime:
With Adam MIA, Conor was there to backfill the snack department with some oranges and popsicles. Looking for mango salsa soon.
Second Half:
Derek had a tap in at the back post. Gianluca sent a p/k to the moon as Mark was taken down in the box. Everyone else decided to shoot at the moon as well. Mean Eyed Cat scored a few more goals. You know, more stuff like that.
Man-of-the-Match: Well, when you play with your Dad and score on Father’s Day, that’s a no brainer for Mark.
Post-Match: Your reporter had to run, but I assume it was epic.
