Things are starting to click for the Honey Badgers as their Summer campaign continues to be a successful journey. Sunday saw Cameron Road play some quality soccer against a fierce division rival.

Beercalona is always a tough opponent who usually gets the better of Cameron Road, but this week the Honey Badgers came out swinging and were more than ready for the 8am start.

The first half was highlighted by some great Honey Badger passing, Scott covering every inch of the pitch, Danimal making one world class slide tackle, Jake being fouled about 20 times, a BT long-range shot, and the Bald Dome of Power rising to put Cameron Road in front.

With the half winding down, Dave served up a corner kick. Chappy called off BT and jammed home a header that took a slight deflection off a Beerca defender to sail into the top corner. 1-0 Cameron Road at the half.

Beerca came out strong to start off the second half, weaving down to the goal within the opening minutes. They were motivated to grab a tying goal, but instead grabbed (or punched) Danimal’s melon in a mele inside the box. The ref was pretty damn quick to show Danny his walking papers, and so Cameron Road was faced with defending their slim lead a man down for the rest of the match.

It was looking like luck was on the Honey Badger’s side as Beerca missed a few sitters, but they finally grabbed a goal as the Honey Badgers couldn’t clear away a corner kick. At 1-1, Cameron Road dug deep to protect the point and take something from the hard-fought game.

Some second half highlights included Jake going on a walk-about with the ball at his feet, Peterson almost scoring with a great run and shot, and McKenna dropping deep to be the 3rd center back at the end of the game to secure the point.
