Honey Badgers Show Signs of Life in 3-3 Draw with Bad Monkeys

In a battle of the zoo animals, the Honey Badgers and Bad Monkeys played to a thrilling 3-3 draw as the blistering Texas summer heat baked the field like a plate of Luke’s Grandmother’s hot biscuits that were left in the over too long.

Badgertown was two tents strong, and with the deflated Punter’s tent serving as an auxiliary third sunshade, Cameron Road had plenty of space in which to prepare for battle. There were also extended female members of the Jefe family present to cheer on America’s most beloved soccer team.

Billy had a chance to score a late winner, but his vision was obscured by a thick layer of mud, as he recently spent a week in a Badger Hole.

Cameron Road started the game well, passing the ball on the ground and carving out scoring chances. At the water break it was 0-0, but then the Bad Monkey’s scored two quick goals to seemingly take control of the game. Needing a goal to get back into the game before the half, the Honey Badgers went on a wild 15 minute ride, scoring three goals and taking a lead into halftime.

First up, McKenna dropped low to nail a header from close range from a Peterson? free kick.

Next up, Chappy chased down a deflected ball on the left side of the box and dropped it to Ryan. Ryan fizzed in a ball to the back post where Adam was waiting to toe poke it home for the tying goal.

Finally, with halftime minutes away, McKenna spotted Chappy in the box parting two defenders. Steve’s amazing 40 yard cross from the touchline found the rising Chappy, and the Bald Dome of Power did the rest.

3-2 Cameron Road at the half.

The second half proved to be just as exciting with the Bad Monkeys scoring a tying goal, Jaybone making an amazing reflex save, Big Dave clearing a ball off the line, both teams hitting the woodwork, a botched Honey Badger free kick right in front of the goal, and chances for a win right up until the final whistle.

All in all it was a good day for Cameron Road as they started to get their groove back with some quality soccer.

Post-Game-Quote-of-the-Day: After being hit with two ice baths in two minutes by his Captain, Billy proclaimed “Ahh, and from me own bag”

Billy is all smiles after a quality performance as McKenna checks his fantasy stats after a goal and an assist and Derek has a look that just says "aw shucks fellas."
