CRU Look Fantastic in their 0-5 Opening Day Loss
Cameron Road might have taken a beating on Sunday, but they looked fantastic in their new blue and gold Honey Badger hats! The first installment of the summer season didn’t go exactly as planned, but Barcenal proved to be quite a handful for CRU. Even though two of Barcenal’s goals were a bit dubious (yet another p/k called against Cameron Road and another that was clearly offside) they still were the better team on the day as they showed why they were D3 champs and moving up to D2. After the 4 goal first half wakeup call, Cameron Road were a much improved side in the second half as they carved out multiple scoring chances in front of the Barcenal goal. On another day, it could have been decided by a goal or two.
Next up on CRU’s Summer Blockbuster Tour is Strikers, and old D2 foe who got off to a good start with a 4-2 win on Sunday.
Man-of-the-Match: A collective effort this week so the accolades get spread out like warm butter on dry white toast. Props to Dermot and Scott for rejoining the team after months away and providing Cameron Road with some legs. Props to Way, who showed up BEFORE the game in mirrored shades and a cooler. Props to Billy for bringing Captain Chappy a trophy of appreciation worthy of prominent placement on any mantle. And finally props to everyone who showed up for looking so cool in defeat in their new Badger caps.
