It’s Just Business. Honey Badgers Beat Punters 1-0.

Sorry Punters, nothing personal, it was just business.

Cameron Road reclaimed the trophy and exercised last fall’s demons as they took a 2-1 game lead in the Crown & Anchor Derby yesterday. It was a glorious, glorious, glorious victory against their Clark Field brethren. Some may say that the game was won before the first kick since the Punters failed to honor tradition and add to the trophy. Others would say the game was won after the first kick when Danimal set the tone at the back with his crunching (and fair) tackles on G$. Actually, the game was won with a kick of Miguel’s boot into the back of the net in the second half.

It was fate. Jefe woke up to this note.

The Punters best play came before the game even started when they allowed Greg to wander into Badgertown wearing an orange and black jersey. Well played, but as it turned out they could have used him to slow the tide of Honey Badger chances during the game.

The first half was pretty even, but Cameron Road carved out more scoring chances and were solid at the back. The Punter introduction of Hurricane Jorgés was meant to shake things up, but his self-inflicted path of destruction and fiery-hot verbal winds only strengthened the Honey Badger resolve.

Doomed from the start. Eric rocking the latest and greatest in 70 year old gardener wear. You've got to look good to play good.

After weathering the initial second half Punter storm, the Honey Badgers kicked it into high gear looking for victory. Andy blasted a rocket just past the goal before injuring himself. Ciro strode through the defense and unleashed a shot (at the keeper), and Derek broke through the Punter back line as well.

But it was Honey Badger 101 that broke the deadlock as Peterson #putitup for Miguel to get a touch of with the outside of his boot to get the all important goal.

From that point, there was only going to be one winner and Cameron Road were able to basically run out the clock and take a knee at the end of the game as New Chris dribbled the ball deep into the treeline.

Nick. Leader of the Punter Free Nation. Forever gracious in defeat.

Glory glory Cameron Road. What a day!

Man-of-the-Match: Miguel scored the game winner in his first El Clasico and was all over the pitch and calm on the ball.
