Cameron Road Suffers Harsh 1-0 Defeat to Elite FC
At press time, your constant reporter was having a hard time writing about yet another nail biter of a game which saw Cameron Road fall to Elite FC on a last minute goal, but after careful reflection there were many tough and gritty performances that needed to be showcased.
Cameron Road’s first blow came before the game when midfield maestro BT was ruled out of action for a couple months with a hairline fracture in his pelvis. Guess he made one too many trips to the salad bar at Luby’s and slipped on some spilt cranberry sauce. We wish him a pleasant, loss-free rest, and will hopefully see him back on the pitch when the weather turns triple digits.
The lucky recipients of this week’s revolving lottery of center backs were Danny (with a fresh new look for Spring) and Luke (who has but weeks of bachelorhood left). It should be noted that they put in solid performances in the center of defense, heading away balls and keeping Elite’s forwards at bay for the entire game.
Although under pressure for a majority of the game, Cameron Road managed to absorb most of it while creating just as many scoring chances themselves. Chappy, Zoran, Luke, Leif, McKenna and Willis all had cracks at goal but it wasn’t their day.
So another week brings another heartbreaking result for the boys of CRU. Good effort, but the Soccer Gods have not been smiling kindly on the boys in yellow and blue of late. Hopefully they can finish out the remaining three games in D2 in style, and then a silent vigil will be held deep within the tree line to propel them into unpresented success in the upcoming summer and fall seasons.
Man-of-the-Match: For the first time ever, the MOTM award goes to a tandem, Luke and Danny, for standing tall at the back against Elite FC
